About Dr Katy McDevitt
Comma Leadership's Dr Katy McDevitt (she/her) is a leadership coach, facilitator, and seasoned executive leader of learning, working in person and remotely with leaders and organisations who want to understand, choose, and act with the benefit of more space to think.
Growing up in South London gave Katy early exposure to navigating a complex, demanding, and energising environment (as well giving her the distinctive accent she's known for!). Beginning a lifetime's exploration of how people think, talk, and grow, she found space and creative satisfaction in books and writing. Katy went on to gain a doctorate in English from Oxford University, before embracing a 15-year career in publishing, first in the UK and later in Australia.
Leadership work found Katy in her late 20s, initially as a team leader in the publishing industry and later as the founding lead for the AdelaideX online learning program at University of Adelaide. This led to senior management positions in higher education and professional/corporate learning. Katy thrived in places where partners were figuring out the unknowns, together, to create change; and she found fulfilment in enabling people to learn, grow, and lead well.
Recognising her strengths in nurturing people's development and growth, Katy became a dedicated executive and organisational coach and facilitator, undertaking ICF-accredited coach education through IECL (Levels 1 & 2) and developing her signature welcoming, curious, and practical coaching style.
Since then, she has worked with a range of organisations and partners, including the award-winning Hacker Exchange (HEX) and purpose-driven nonprofit Leadership Victoria. At LV, she has been Faculty Lead for the Williamson Community Leadership Program since 2023 - a role that now nestles alongside Katy's practice at Comma.
Katy is a qualified Learning Scientist (Graduate Diploma, Sydney) and is a graduate of Harvard's Art and Practice of Leadership Development Program. She's also a trained Chief Learning Officer and a professional member of bodies including the International Coach Federation, Adaptive Leadership Network, International Leadership Association, and Australian Institute of Training and Development.
As an expert in development coaching, Katy is authorised to deliver powerful 360º leadership assessments, including The Leadership Circle Profile, Life Styles Inventory I & II, and other solutions for profound insight into inner development for real-world results.
